    C40 CSM Rubber

CSM 40 Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene Hypalon Rubber 25Mpa Tensile Strength

    DESCRIPTION

Polyisoprene (IR) is the synthetic version of natural rubber and is generally used in similar types of applications. It has a hardness range of 50-95 durometer, making it slightly restricted in this aspect. One of its notable features is its exceptional resistance to weathering, ozone, and aqueous solutions. Even after long-term exposure to sunlight, colored compounds made from CSM retain their colors well. Another advantage of CSM is its flame retardant nature, tolerance to moderately high temperatures, moderate oil resistance, and good cold flex properties.

However, CSM has its limitations. It shares many similarities with polychloroprene, except for being less resilient. It is susceptible to attack by certain oils, solvents, and hydraulic fluids, which restrict its use in dynamic applications. Despite this, CSM finds application in the wire and cable industry as well as the hose industry.

A modified version of CSM called ACSIUM™ has been developed specifically for dynamic applications. This alkylated form exhibits lower damping, making it more comparable to polychloroprene in terms of resilience. Additionally, it offers improved heat aging and low-temperature performance.

    PROPERTIES

This rubber exhibits excellent resistance to oxygen, ozone, most chemicals, and water. However, it has poor fuel resistance, which is a limitation to its use. Additionally, its inadequate compression set resistance restricts its utility in dynamic sealing applications.

On a positive note, this rubber is resistant to weather conditions, providing durability in various outdoor environments. Moreover, it demonstrates resistance to abrasion, enhancing its longevity in applications where friction is a concern.

    APPLICATION

    1. Wire and cable industry: CSM is commonly used in the wire and cable industry due to its resistance to weathering and ozone. It provides durability and protection to electrical wires and cables, ensuring reliable performance even in harsh environments.

    2. Hose industry: CSM finds application in the hose industry as it offers excellent resistance to chemicals, including aqueous solutions. This makes it suitable for hoses used in various industries such as chemical processing, agriculture, and manufacturing.

    3. Roofing membranes: CSM's resistance to weathering, UV light, and moisture absorption make it an ideal material for roofing membranes. It provides a durable and long-lasting protective layer, ensuring the integrity of buildings and structures.

    4. Automotive industry: Although CSM has limitations in fuel resistance, it still finds use in certain automotive applications. It is commonly used in gaskets and seals where fuel exposure is minimal. CSM's resistance to weathering and temperature extremes makes it suitable for automotive components requiring durability and reliability.
